WOOOO!!! ULTIMATE BLOG PARTY 2013!!!

Ultimate Blog Party 2013

My name is Angel Rodriguez. I'm a educator, adoptive dad, scholar, neuro-geek, and occasional superhero (according to my kiddos). I'm excited about participating in UTB13 and hope to visit and enjoy many of your blogs.

I'm new myself to this whole blogging thing, but I am awfully excited about it! In a nutshell, my life pretty much revolves around helping others (especially families and children) and LEARNING! My hope is to share what I've discovered through my odd assortment of experiences (oh boy...its been odd, but in a wondrous way) and help them reach their potential through the use of brain-based learning. I'm literally in love with learning and that's what this blog is all about. I hope to use this tool, and some other forms of social media (especially Pinterest! HOLY CRAP PINTEREST IS FUN!!!...pardon me, I digress) to reach as many people as I can.

Why do it? Over the last 17 years I've watched moms, dads, and the children they love, struggle. As the father of two amazing children with disabilities, as a teacher, as a learner...I've struggled too. I don't want you to have to re-invent the wheel. I want you to know what I know. The knowledge I've acquired has been hard fought, and thankfully it has been an incredible blessing to my family. All I can hope is that it can be a blessing to yours as well. Visit often...I guarantee you'll LEARN A LOT!!!

  3. Enjoyed reading your blog...especially the post about daydreaming! I've been trying to convince my wife and kids for years that daydreaming is the secret to success - they just thought I was crazy. Now, I have science on my side. :-)

Glad you stopped over at my blog in the UBP2013. I'm still relatively new to this blog thing...any lessons learned about blogging you'd care to share with a rookie blogger?

    1. I'm a rookie myself. This has been a great experience tho. I guess as we learn, we can share with each other (thats actually transfer of knowledge, brain-based technique...lol, I'm such a geek).

  5. I really enjoyed your blog! It's nice to know I am not the only neuro-geek(as you put it) out there. I have spent a lot of time with neurologists over the last six years with my daughter. I am continually amazed at the brain, and the resilience of children to develop through structural damage and trauma to the brain. I found your blog very encouraging, and I am excited to be your new follower.

    1. I am totally a neuro-geek. I was always bananas for learning, but my kids inspired me to take it to the next level. Everything you mention is what amazes me as well, even when damaged. We should all strive to work closer to our potential! Thank you for following! =)

  7. Pinterest is SO fun..I can't be there often because when I am, I get sucked in for hours. I think you'll like this whole blogging thing and you will find some like people that you will have a lot in common with. You might be surprised a time or two.

    1. I've been surprised a BUNCH of times already! Pinterest keeps sucking me in, but it's been such a great resource as well. My favorite part about this entire experience has been how connected I'm getting to others with similar inspirations. We're all taking our collective personal knowledge and making it shared knowledge.

  8. I've just spent the last 45 minutes reading through your blog. It's fascinating and interesting and apparently... addicting! You have much experience and wisdom to share and I am happy to have discovered this. You certainly have a new follower here. :)

    1. The EXACT reaction I was hoping for! When it comes to the whole experience and wisdom thing, it wasn't until this last summer that I realized...wow, you've had quite a journey! I'd been so caught up in the moments of everyday, that I hadn't paused to think back on how far I'd travelled. I think we all often don't realize what we've accomplished (big and small). And if you're happy with what you have accomplished, get on track to change it. Best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago...2nd best time is today.
I'm really glad that you're following (wow, my replies are wordy)!

    1. I really hope you do! I'm especially keen on what you do as well. Music is such an amazing thing (just think of Garner's theory of multiple intelligences). It opens your mind in ways that nothing else can. I plan to learn how to play bass...it's on my "list" of ways I want to grow and learn. Thanks for coming by!

  10. Angel, I'm so glad that you stopped by my site (ProdigalPlanet.net) and commented! I have a second blog about homeschooling, special needs and life. (themommaknows.com) I'll have to spend some time exploring here because I'm "right there with ya" on a lot of things. Hope you had a great time with the UBP! :)

    1. I'm an educator, but I hold NO allegiance to any one particular type of school. My oldest son is homeschooled and I think parents willing dedicate the time, sacrifice, and work that hard are simply amazing! Please come back and explore, and if you or anyone ever has a specific question, please let me know. I LOVE QUESTIONS!!! In fact, questions are what inspired me to blog in the first place...I just get to shout out answers over a further distance. Who know who'll hear and benefit! =)
